Background: Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) belongs to the family of fascial plane blocks in which local anesthetic is injected into a between two layers fascia and subsequently spreads nerves located within that or adjacent tissue compartments. ESPB has been used pain management, cervical, thoracic cardiovascular surgeries. Objective: The goal this narrative review article go through pertinent anatomy, explain how injectant spreads, show several ways erector spinae block, summarise case studies clinical trials. Conclusion: Because craniocaudal vertical spread anesthetics sensory block are not well understood predicted, it appears that, unlike other blocks, mechanism will be decided by data.
